Freelance communications, PR, marketing and content
Based in Phoenix, Ariz., Nick Walter uses more than 25 years of experience as a communications and PR/marketing pro to promote the outdoors and amplify your visibility.
With specialized outdoor, natural resources and conservation experience working at premier Southwestern natural resource agencies, state conservation departments, and regional water authorities, I offer a rare combination of subject-matter and communications strategy and PR/marketing experience. This bypasses the costly learning curve of generic marketing firms.
It takes someone passionate about conservation and the Great Outdoors to speak the same language of those we’re trying to reach.
Results rule: so let's look at a case study
One example: Nick produced a national award-winning conservation blog for a major state wildlife agency, transforming it into a high-traffic digital resource.
How does the process work? Look closer
Services can start with a phone call (the free consultation). I get to know you, your goals and how I can build your business. I’m ready to listen and take action.
What's next?
I’m a strategic communications professional who combines a journalist’s instincts, a project manager’s discipline, and a problem-solver’s curiosity.
Across 25+ years in journalism, government public affairs, digital communications, media relations, and project leadership, I’ve repeatedly stepped into unfamiliar subject matter and complicated organizational situations — and figured out how to make things work. That range has given me a comparative perspective: I’ve seen many different ways to approach communications, technology, and organizational problems, and I bring those lessons forward rather than assuming the existing way is the only way.
I love sports (basketball is my main game) and of course outdoors (fishing, mountain biking, hiking, running, and watersports) and eating clean and exercising efficiently for sustained high performance.
Education
Nick holds a Ba. in Communications from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
